Lydia Loved Her Kindergarten Teacher

This is the note Lydia made for her teacher.

The Last Day of Kindergarten!

Lydia is already worried about first grade. She had a wonderful teacher, Ms. Lawford. Ms. Lawford retired this year after teaching for over 30 years.

The Before

When we first drove by our house I thought it was so ugly. Eventhough it is still a cheap house and has the shape of a trailer, it has served us well and is looking better all the time. This isn't the true before. The path and flowerbeds were designed and built with free family labor. Jonny even put some lights up in the trees; we Moore's are such over achievers when it comes to work projects.

The Current - It is still a work in progress so we can't say, "After."

Our yard has gotten lots of compliments this year so I figured I would put up a few pictures.

The round bed is my first attempt at an herb garden!

Here's another view

The back yard

The fort is the latest additon. I am attempting a square foot garden (without sun). We probably have 30 trees in our yard so we get a lot of shade. Shade other than for gardening is a good thing in Hot Old Houston. I also made some compost bins. The porch on the shed I put on a dolly and hauled through the neighborhood (someone left it on the curb to be picked up by the trash after Hurricane Ike). My dad got the pots for my container gardening attempts from a big yard in Marshall Texas. The trampoline that is front and center on the deck was suposed to fit on the side of the house, but I forgot to take in consideration the additional measurements for the frame. I guess I better mention the bunnies, "Pinkie 1 & Pinkie 2." These are Lydia's bunnies that she bought with her 5 yr old birthday money; what a gal.

Miss Responsible (Lydia)

Lydia loves to help out and offered to prune the trees for me. She loves school and is growing up way too fast.

Eric's Third Birthday

Eric had one request for his birthday . . . a chocolate cake! He got his cake, a "hot rod" book and a ball. He must have worn himself out riding his toy car because he was too tired to eat his birthday cake; he ate a piece the next morning for breakfast.

Kate's First Doll

Nana Gave Kate her fist baby; she loves pointing to the different parts of her face. The only facial feature she can say is, "eyes." She is taking about 5 steps at a time now and is really proud of herself. She claps after each jaunt.
